Richa Chadha calls for ‘arrest’ of boys harassing girl on Holi amidst uproar over advertisement | Hindi Movie News

Bollywood actress Richa Chadha, on Friday, called for the arrest of a group of boys who were caught on camera harassing a girl.
According to the viral Twitter post, the boys allegedly harassed a ‘Japanese tourist in India’ by surrounding her, throwing Holi colour on her, breaking an egg on her head and also spraying paint on her.

“For those who were against the #BHARATMATRIMONY Holi campaign. A Japanese tourist in India. Imagine your sister, mother or wife being treated like this in another county? Maybe you will understand then (sic)” read the tweet.
Reacting to the post, Richa said, “Arrest these men.”

Several other videos showing foreigners being manhandled by groups of boys on the festival of Holi have been doing the rounds on social media. These come after some people took offence to Bharat Matrimony’s latest commercial.

The video released on March 8, also marked as International Women’s Day, shows how harassment faced by women during Holi leads to trauma and stops them from celebrating the festival of colours.

“This Women’s Day and Holi, let’s celebrate by creating safer and more inclusive spaces for women. It’s important to acknowledge the challenges that women face in public spaces and create a society that truly respects their well-being – today and forever,” read the post.

The video shows a woman’s face covered in different Holi colours. She then washes off the colour only to reveal a face full of bruises. These visuals were paired with the caption, “Some colours don’t wash away easy. A third of women who’ve faced this trauma, have stopped playing Holi.”

While some Twitter users lauded the brand for the social message, others slammed the brand for ‘hurting religious sentiments’.

The post led to a section of social media users calling to ‘boycott’ the ad.
